Capt. Stephen L. Gibson

End Of Watch 12/13/2023

On December 13th, 2023 Somervell County Sheriff's Office, Captain Stephen L. Gibson was involved in an on-duty motor vehicle crash where he lost his life.  Captain Gibson served on the force with Somervell County for 27+ years.  He served in many rolls from patrol deputy, patrol seargent and as CID Sgt.   After Stephen's passing he was promoted to Captain where he was to be promoted in February of 2024.  Stephen leaves behind his wife, children, grandchildren and brothers in blue.

Honoring Capt. Gibson

Police Week 2024

The week of May 15th, 2024 Captain Stephen Gibson was honored in Washington DC where he was added to the National Police Officer's Memorial Wall.  Captain Gibson's name is located on the West wall, block 22, line 34.  The Gibson Family was presented with The Supreme Sacrifice Medal Of Honor on May 15th during the memorial service.  222 officers were added to the wall this year.
